Take Advantage of your surroundings!

  • On-campus involvement
  • Internships
  • School paper
  • Network as much as possible!!!

Think Outside the Box!

  • Get involved with freelance to fill your resume
  • Treat your classmates as competitors
  • Meet as many people as possible… be creative. 

Don’t be scared!

  • Test everything out as much as you can. Its good to fail at least once in order to learn. 
  • Talk to your advisor about how much is enough involvement
  • Sacrifice for your career is necessary. Devote yourself. 

Landing the Internship

  • Prepare your resume….update it, edit it, make it appealing 
  • Target where you want to apply and go after it! Apply to 15-20 internships 
  • Apply for internship 4 months ahead of time. Think ahead!
  • Interview: Do not look nervous, speak clearly, with enthusiasm, and dress presentably. 
  • Don’t think that the best internships are the best… use these internships as gateways for paid jobs after college
  • Don’t be ashamed of starting at the bottom. 
  • Even after graduating, don’t cast unpaid internships away. They could be gateways for later on in your life! 
  • Look towards your past internships for job opportunities. 
  • Even if you can’t get a job right out of school, stay active in your craft and involve yourself as much as you can in networking. 

Open a LinkedIn account and a digital portfolio as well as other medias to help you with networking.
