Think Outside the Box!
- Get involved with freelance to fill your resume
- Treat your classmates as competitors
- Meet as many people as possible… be creative.
Don’t be scared!
- Test everything out as much as you can. Its good to fail at least once in order to learn.
- Talk to your advisor about how much is enough involvement
- Sacrifice for your career is necessary. Devote yourself.
Landing the Internship
- Prepare your resume….update it, edit it, make it appealing
- Target where you want to apply and go after it! Apply to 15-20 internships
- Apply for internship 4 months ahead of time. Think ahead!
- Interview: Do not look nervous, speak clearly, with enthusiasm, and dress presentably.
- Don’t think that the best internships are the best… use these internships as gateways for paid jobs after college
- Don’t be ashamed of starting at the bottom.
- Even after graduating, don’t cast unpaid internships away. They could be gateways for later on in your life!
- Look towards your past internships for job opportunities.
- Even if you can’t get a job right out of school, stay active in your craft and involve yourself as much as you can in networking.
Open a LinkedIn account and a digital portfolio as well as other medias to help you with networking.
